Biomedical Engineering Centre

In 2012, the Rector of the Military University of Technology appointed interdisciplinary team – Biomedical Engineering Centre (BEC). The team’s task is to carry out, within the frame of MUT activity, the projects connected with biomedical engineering, development of innovative technologies and devices for medicine. At the end of 2012, the team prepared the project for 5.1 POIG competition entitled “Development of Cluster of Biomedical Engineering Centre” aimed at diffusion of innovations from MUT and from other scientific-research institutions to the enterprises connected with the cluster. Cluster consists of 15 entities; enterprises, research organizations, scientific institutes, university, and business support institution. In the first half of 2013, MUT was granted the funds for the project of amount 22 mln PLN, the amount for the total project is planned for 30 mln PLN. MUT cluster is the only one cluster in Poland in which the cluster’ coordinator role fulfils the university.

The goal of cluster members is to increase the potential of biomedical engineering by creation of cooperation network for its participants, support for innovation, and stimulation of advanced solutions in biomedical engineering and their commercialization.

Within the frame of the project “Development of Cluster of Biomedical Engineering Centre”, financed by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP in Polish), the workshops of Biomedical Engineering Centre”, equipped with the up-to-date scientific-research apparatus, are being created at MUT.
